    Man shot, suspect dead in Waterbury

    WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — Police are investigating after a man was shot Tuesday morning in Waterbury. The suspect is dead, according to police.

    Police responded just before 6:30 a.m. to an apartment building on Armand Drive for the report of a gunshot victim.

    Authorities said they believe the 65-year-old man was shot in the parking lot by the suspect and then went into his apartment to call police.

    Police said they found the suspect, a 73-year-old man from Waterbury, in a common area of the apartment building, also with a gunshot wound.

    The suspect then shot himself, according to police. The suspect was pronounced dead on scene, and police said the chief medical examiner’s office will determine his official cause of death.

    Police said the suspect and victim knew each other, and the shooting was an isolated incident.

    The victim is being treated at a local hospital, where police said he is in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
