Ray Township voters to decide on fire station proposal
Ray Township voters will weigh in on the need for a new fire station during the Aug. 6 primary, as well vote in contested races for supervisor and trustee. The bond proposal asks voters if Ray Township shall borrow a sum not to exceed $5.5 million, and issue unlimited tax general obligation bonds in one or more series. These would be payable within 21 years from the date of issue.
Downtown Flint’s Saginaw Street reopens this week
Flint’s Saginaw Street will reopen to vehicle traffic this week after over a year of construction work along the downtown thoroughfare. The City of Flint announced the reopening will happen ahead of schedule, originally assumed to be early August, in time for upcoming summer events like the Crim Festival of Races, Back to the Bricks, and Bikes on the Bricks.

ROSE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 20-year-old man drowned after jumping off a boat into a lake in Rose Township. Marsalis Quintin Carter, who lists residences in Detroit and Tuskegee, Alabama, was pronounced dead after a search of Taylor Lake that lasted more than 13 hours, according to the the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
