CARES of Burien and Des Moines Animal Control & Shelter this week issued an urgent appeal for donations after taking in 20 dogs from a recent hoarding case.

The dogs – found living in deplorable conditions – require extensive medical attention, grooming, and rehabilitation.

The discovery of the dog hoarding case was made following the apparent overdose death of the dogs’ owner.

The influx of animals has placed a significant strain on the shelter’s resources, prompting an urgent call for community support to ensure the dogs receive the care and love they need.

“The sheer number of dogs we are currently caring for has put a strain on our resources and we need help to ensure that they the care and love they deserve,” CARES said.

Organizers are estimating costs just for this one case will exceed $10,000.

“Your generosity will make a world of difference in their lives, helping us provide a second chance at a happy, healthy life.”

Donations of any amount are requested to cover the extensive costs associated with this rescue operation. The shelter also encourages sharing this appeal with friends and family to maximize support.

“Every dollar counts and will go towards the care and well-being of these precious animals, as well as supporting our dedicated staff during this challenging time,” CARES added.

For those willing to contribute, please consider making a donation today. Your support is crucial in helping these dogs recover and thrive in a safe and loving environment.
