ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – A man has been arrested in Waterloo for allegedly using counterfeit money at a local business.

Deputies accused 55-year-old Arcangel Soler of using a counterfeit $100-bill in exchange for goods and was provided U.S. currency as change, then later returning to the business and attempted to do the same.

Deputies also say Soler gave them a false name and date of birth during a traffic stop in Waterloo on June 25.

Soler was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the first degree, Petit Larceny and Scheme Defraud and False Personation. He was arraigned in Seneca County CAP Court and was taken to the Seneca County Correctional Facility.

Deputies said them, Waterloo police, and the Seneca Falls Police Department received calls about counterfeit $100-bills. Anyone that was given counterfeit money should call investigator James Altemari by phone at (315) 220-3443 or by email at jaltemari@co.seneca.ny.us.
