Waterloo School Board candidates respond to QA

    By Eric Wharton,

    2024-03-18

The Waterloo School Board are April, and this year, two candidates are running for different positions. Jeremy Dolfin, is running uncontested for school board area three, and Charles Crave, is an incumbent running for school board area two. The Waterloo-Marshall Courier reached out to the candidates with a list of questions, and below are their responses.

    Jeremy Dolfin

Address: 625 Hiawatha Trail, Waterloo, WI 53594

    Age: 46

    Occupation: CPA

Why are you running for the school board?

I currently have four children attending Waterloo Schools and the educational progress they and their friends are making here is an important venture I want to contribute to.

What skills/talents/knowledge could you utilize on the board?

I have served on boards for WYSO, the Waterloo Boosters, my church, and other committees. Every role has provided me with an opportunity to work with diverse people with differing opinions, each time building the consensus needed to enhance the success of the organization we are serving.

In order of priority, what are three issues you would like to address as a board member?

    1. Maintain — I have no plans to advocate for revolutionary changes. I believe that in general, the board and the district it oversees have been ably led through the exceptional difficulties of COVID and I want to maintain the steady course those currently navigating it have chosen.

    2. Community- I believe the school district is the crown jewel of our city. There is no other single establishment we have that brings the entire town together like it does. On weekdays from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., the school buildings are buzzing with activities that enhance our sense of community, and many weekends it continues to provide opportunities that bring us together. Keeping this flagship institution of our community gleaming proudly in the spotlight is my goal.

    3. Represent — As mentioned, I have served on the boards of both the Waterloo Boosters and WYSO. These groups and their goals are passions of mine and I believe their partnerships with the district over the years have been crucial to the development of our youth and the joys associated with participating in sports. I plan to represent these organizations while serving on the school board.

    Charles Crave

“I am running for the Waterloo school board. I am completing my first term as a school board member. I have been an operating partner in Crave Brothers Farm and Farmstead Cheese since 1978. I represent district 2 which is primarily Portland Township.

My goal as a school board member is to enact reasonable policies which allow for the education of all. Not just those with the loudest voice. We in Waterloo are proud of a quality education at a reasonable cost.”
