WATERLOO — Waterloo runners and walkers can bring their dogs to the Bridge this Saturday for the first 5k run/walk hosted by the Bridge Nutrition and Inspirational Nutrition.

“It’s just a way to get active,” DJ Dorn, the owner of Bridge Nutrition, said. “Enjoy a beautiful Saturday morning. Meet some new friends.”

The race is a fundraiser, so all proceeds will go to Custom Canines Service Dog Academy, which is a nonprofit organization that helps to find homes for service dogs by partnering them with a family.

Participants can enjoy time outside with their dogs in the community, stop by the dog park on the route or just sign up to give back to an organization that supports families in need of service dogs. There is no requirement to bring a dog if someone wants to run or walk without a pet.

There will be dogs from CCSDA that participants can meet after the race, along with complimentary post workout shakes.

Registration will be at the Bridge Nutrition. It starts at 8 a.m. and goes till 8:45, with the race starting at 9 a.m. It is a very low pressure environment, and event organizers said “it will not be timed, unless you want it to be.
