As Early Curfew Ends At 31st Street Beach, Alderman Explores ‘A More Permanent’ Solution
BRONZEVILLE — Hoping to build on the success of the peaceful Fourth of July weekend at 31st Street Beach, Ald. Lamont Robinson (4th) is exploring ways to make it permanent. A 10-day curfew that moved the beach’s closing time from 11 p.m. to 8 p.m. was lifted Sunday. Robinson’s office worked with police, the Park District and violence prevention organizations to keep the area safe, implementing bag checks and adding more security to patrol the beach and surrounding parking lots in the wake of three separate after-hours shootings that left three people dead and one teen wounded.

Carl Scott, the acting police chief for the Village of Robbins, has been involved in what was described as a concerning incident, and is now no longer with the department. Armed robber who got shot by concealed carry holder gets 9-year prison sentence
CHICAGO — A Chicago man who got shot when he tried to rob a concealed carry holder in December 2022 has been handed a nine-year prison sentence. Jeremiah Brown, 19, pleaded guilty this week to attempted robbery in connection with the case. Three juveniles were also accused of participating in the crime.
