Universities of Wisconsin unveil plan to recover $32 million cut by Republicans in diversity fight
MADISON — The Universities of Wisconsin unveiled a $32 million workforce development plan Monday in an attempt to recover funds that were cut by the Republican-controlled Legislature earlier this year in a fight over campus diversity programs. The Legislature’s budget committee voted in June to eliminate 188 diversity, equity and inclusion positions within the university system and slash UW’s budget by $32 million, which is the amount Republicans estimated would be spent on so-called DEI programs over the next two years. ...

WATERTOWN — Caitlin Rondello, a registered dietician and diabetes educator at Watertown Regional Medical Center, has been named a finalist for an award issued by the company that owns and operates the hospital, according to a press release. Rondello has been named a finalist for ScionHealth’s Monarch Caring and Community Award. The city of Watertown is excited to announce the first successful Community Garden Project. Residents requested that a space be provided to allow the residents to grow their own produce, and city officials set aside space in Lincoln Park, 505 Union Street, starting last year. Watertown resident Daniel Kaddatz retires from Hull Transport
Daniel Kaddatz, a long-time driver for Hull Transport in Stoughton, has retired for a second time. Kaddatz, a Watertown resident, has worked for Hull for about 30 years, according to a press release issued by the company. He received the company’s first-ever “Semi Driver of the Year” award in 2014 for driving 6 million miles without an accident. Kaddatz “loved trucking so much, he even retired once and came back to do local truck driving for us again,” Hull owner Nick Hull wrote in the release. “Danny deserves a huge pat on the back for all the excellent work he did through his driving career, as he is finally throwing in the towel to ‘officially’ hand over his keys and retire. He touched so many lives, made a huge impact on the trucking industry, and I know he will continue to be a blessing to all the people that come across him in life.”
