WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – Drivers going through the North side of the City of Watertown may experience some delays.

City and county officials arrived on site around 9 a.m. to make sure the occupants were safely evacuated and services were provided to them.

The mayor press release went onto add that the “decision comes after thorough inspections revealed critical fire code violations and unsanitary conditions that pose a serious risk to the occupants and the community.”

According to the mayor’s announcement, Watertown’s fire department has responded to emergencies at this location 40 times in 2024 alone.

Jefferson County is working to provide emergency placement for residents registered with Social Services according to the mayor.
