    Watertown man airlifted to the hospital after garage fire and explosion

    WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — On Saturday, July 20 the City of Watertown Fire Department was called to 222 East Main Street for a report of an explosion and fire.

    When firefighters arrived on the scene they discovered a fire in an unattached garage. People at the house reported that someone was still inside the garage.

    Firefighters gained access to the garage and were able to remove the person inside. The man was identified as John Babcock, the owner of the property.

    Babcock was airlifted to SUNY Upstate Medical Center for treatment.
