    WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – Watertown has finished installing the Downtown Revitalization Initiative Program’s art project on the Square.

    This art project is titled “ALCHEMY 432” and was made by Watertown, NY resident David O’Reilly Grieco.

    The plaque for the Statue reads as follows:

    Mill Street Bridge & The Black River
    1803 – The Black River holds significant importance for the early development of Watertown, New York, primarily due to its role in supporting local industry. The river served as a vital souce of power for the region, enabling the growth and expansion of various industries during that time.

    First Baptist Church
    1849 1890 – A church holds great importance as a symbol of the perseverance of the human spirit. Throughout history, churches have been places of worship, solace, and community, representing the unwavering determination of people to find spiritual meaning and connection.
    Hotel Woodruff

    1851-1976 – The Hotel Woodruff in Watertown, New York, was an iconic establishment with a rich history. Built in 1851, it stood as a prominent landmark for over a century. The hotel was known for its elegant architecture (Otis L. Wheelock) and luxurious accommodations, attracting travelers and dignitaries alike.

    Flower on a Pixel

    A flower sitting on top of a pixel can symbolize the convergence of technology and emotions. The pixel represents the digital world and technological advancements, while the flower represents love, patience, and beauty. This juxtaposition suggests that even in the fast-paced digital age, the values of patience and love are still relevant and meaningful. Inspired by the New York State Flower and also Roswell P. Flower who was Governor of New York from 1892-1894. He grew up in Theresa and began working in Watertown in the late 1840’s and became a very successful businessman known throughout the United States. On December 26, 1859, Roswell Flower married Sarah Morse Woodruff.

    As pathways intertwine, intricate and precise, the sculpture beckons, calling hearts to rise. Each step a cadence, 432 Hertz’s embrace, a melody of transcendence, guiding us to grace.

    Through valleys of shadows and peaks of light, we navigate this journey, both day and night. Embracing nature’s rhythm, in harmonious accord, we find balance within, our spirits restored.

    Grieco’s monument, an ode to Watertown’s pride, a beacon of wisdom, where seekers confide. May it inspire hearts, both young and old, to journey within, and find enlightenment’s gold.

    So let us walk this path, our souls in tune, to “Alchemy 432”, under Watertown’s moon. With each step forward, our essence set free, in harmony with nature, the universe, and thee.

    Grieco’s stainless steel snow bank sculpture stands as a timeless tribute to the beauty of snow and the cherished traditions of winter in Watertown, inviting residents and visitors alike to embrace the season’s wonder and delight in its serene allure.
