    Arrows improve their dual record to 5-1 with wins over Jefferson and Milbank

    Watertown High School's boys tennis team improved its season record to 5-1 by rolling to dual victories over Sioux Falls Jefferson and Milbank in a home triangular Tuesday at Highland Park.

    The Arrows notched an 8-1 win over Jefferson and closed out the day with a 9-0 win over Class A Milbank.

    "We get a couple of days to hopefully practice before we head to Brandon on Friday to play against Rapid City Central and Stevens," Watertown head coach Ryan Zink said.

    Watertown 8, SF Jefferson 1

    In singles, Watertown got wins from Curtis Sneden at No. 1, 10-0 over Charlie Grismer; Evan Meester at No. 2, 10-1 over Blake Walter; Justin Remmers at No. 3, 10-6 over Charlie Erickson; Skyler Stanton at No. 5, 10-8 over Kyan Kemmis; and Matthew Bertsch at No. 6, 10-0 over Asher Vandewater.

    Jefferson's Carter Kemmis won 10-3 over Watertown's Joey Meester at No. 4 singles.

    In doubles, Sneden-E. Meester won 10-4 over Grismer-Walter at No. 1; Remmers-Stanton 10-2 over Erickson-C. Kemmis at No. 2; and J. Meester-Sam Karst 10-6 over K. Kemmis-Vandewater.

    "We got off to a slow start in doubles against both Jefferson and Milbank and played better as the matches went on," Zink said.

    Watertown 9, Milbank 0

    Sneden won 10-0 over Milbank's Joe Schulte at No. 1 singles, E. Meester 10-1 over Charles Whitesitt at No. 2, Remmers 01-0 over Gregory Grabow at No. 3, J. Meester 10-2 over Will Muellenbach at No. 4, Stanton 10-1 over Daniel Shelstad at No. 5 and Bertsch 10-1 over Landen Appl at No. 6.

    Sneden-E. Meester won 10-5 over Schulte-Grabow, Remmers-Stanton 10-3 over Whitesitt-Muellenbach and J. Meester-Karst 10-2 over Shelstad-Appl in doubles.

    "Overall, I was happy with the how the guys played in singles," Zink said. "The doubles teams are getting better each time we play."
