    Four area amateur baseball players earn all-tournament honors in recent state tourney

    MITCHELL — Area players Casey Vining and Chad Ellingson of Aberdeen Circus Sports Bar, Dom Boerger of the Milbank Firechiefs and Gus Steiger of the Castlewood Ravens have earned all-tourney honors from the 92nd South Dakota State Amateur Baseball Tournament.

    The tourney was held Aug. 7-18 at Brookings (Class A) and Mitchell (Class A and B).

    Vining and Ellingson each earned were named to the 18-player Class A all-tourney team.

    Boerger and Steiger were honored in Class B, which featured 27 all-tourney players.

    Other Class A All-Tourney

    MVP David Borchardt, Jaxon Rosencranz, Jeremiah Mauch and Ryan Hander of the champion Renner Monarchs; and Bryce Ahrend, Jacob Glovich, Sam Baier and Class A batting champion Sam Siegel of the runner-up Sioux Falls Brewers.

    Others include Andrew Hill of the Black Hills A's; Chase McDaniel and Henry Hammrich of the Brookings Cubs; Joe Gokie and Lucas Kampshoff of the Yankton Tappers; and Seth Peterson, Stuart Baruth and Zach Dibble of the Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels.

    Other Class B All-Tourney

    MVP Drew Sweeter, Brayden Pankonen, Heith Williams. Riley Hoffman and Trey Randael of champion Dell Rapids PBR; and Sheldon Gant, Michael Buitenbos, Hunter Hewitt and Grant Doom of the runner-up Platte Killer Tomotoes.

    Others include Jaxon Hennies of the Elk Point Colt 45s; Derek and Justin Miller of the Canova Gang; Jonny Lyons of the Kimball-White Lake Nationals; Michael Schottmer of the Alexandria Angels; Logan Larsen of the Hartford-Humboldt Wood Ducks; Trevor Kenobbie of the Wessington Springs Owls; Brad Hand of Four Corners; Robin Chute and Dustin Steckler of the Garretson Blue Jays; Reed Harter and Connor Hopkins of the Winner-Colome Pheasants; Class B batting champion Keaton Grevengoed of the Larchwood (Iowa) Diamonds; and Jason Schmidt, Sam Pischke and Phil Johnson of the Dimock-Emery Raptors.
