Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Watertown Regional Landfill will not be closed on Friday, Aug. 30 and will be open to the general public.

The Landfill will be closed on Monday, Sept. 1 for Labor Day. Trash normally collected on Monday will be collected tomorrow, Friday, August 30.

Weather permitting, the City of Watertown Public Works Department will continue work on the 2024 Solid Waste Improvements on Friday, Sept. 6. The work is scheduled to be completed on Sept. 6, pending any unforeseen issues, according to a release.

The 2024 Solid Waste Improvements project scope includes new asphalt paving over the existing base course. This project is located within the Watertown Regional Landfill.

The city asks that people avoid using the Watertown Regional Landfill on Friday, Sept. 6, unless necessary. This work will proceed under the normal operating hours of the landfill, according to a release.

Please plan accordingly for these changes.

As with any road construction project, motorists should exercise caution and observe all traffic control devices and flaggers in and around the construction areas. The landfill will remain accessible and open to the general public.

If you have any questions, please contact the City of Watertown Engineering Division of the Public Works Department at (605) 882-6202.
