Readers asked to decide this week's Public Opinion Athlete of the Week

There's definitely strength in numbers and that technically explains why a number of our nominees for the Public Opinion Athlete of the Week are football players each week and also that football players have won the honor the past five weeks.

The streak went to five when Clark-Willow Lake football player Emmerson Larson won the weekly honor for Sept. 16-22.

Now we have 10-11 candidates up for the weekly honor for Sept. 23-29 and the winner will be decided by your vote.

Voting continues through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday.

2023-24 Public Opinion Athletes of the Week

Aug. 12-18: Gracie Lozenski, Aberdeen Central girls soccer.

Aug.19-25: Lucas Gulbranson, Leola-Frederick Area football.

Aug. 26-Sept. 1: Micah Holien, Great Plains Lutheran football.
