    2011 Summit High School graduate Alex (Kneeland) Harris joints Mount Marty Athletic Hall of Fame

    YANKTON — Former Summit High School girls basketball standout Alex (Kneeland) Harris was inducted recently into the Mount Marty University Athletic Hall fo Fame.

    The 2017 Mount Marty graduate played women's basketball for the Lancers and led the squad to a 44-23 record during his time at the school. In the 2015-16 season, she led the team to a school-record 25 wins and a Final Four appearance in the NAIA National Tournament.

    Harris was selcted as the 2016 MMU Female Athlete of the Year after earning NAIA All-American and Honorable Mention All-American honors from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. That same year, she also was named to the All-Great Plains Athletic Conference first team and also received Academic All-Conference and NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors. She led the NAIA with 771 points that season (averaging 21.4 points per game) and set school records for 3-pointers in a game (eight) and season (123).

    In two seasons with the Lancers, Harris scored 1,266 career points. She previously played at Augustana University and completed her college career with 1,417 total points.

    A 5-foot-8 guard, she earned Class B all-state first team honors three times and scored 2,293 career points at Summit High School. As a senior in 2011, she led the Eagles to a 26-0 record and the state Class B title, earning the Spirit of Su Award at state. She also was named South Dakota's Miss Basketball in 2011 and the South Dakota Gatorade Girls Basketball Player of the Year in 2010-11.
