DUI: Mary Ann Rogers refers to officers as her boyfriend after causing car accident
67-year-old Mary Ann Rogers was arrested for driving under the influence after causing a car accident at the intersection of Edmonson Ferry Road and Ashland City Road on June 20th. When officers arrived at the scene, they found that her pickup truck had rear-ended a sedan at a stoplight. Upon speaking to Rogers, the driver of the truck, officers noticed her bloodshot eyes and the smell of alcohol on her breath. They also observed her slurred speech and inability to answer simple questions. Rogers then admitted to drinking alcohol before driving. When asked to step out of her vehicle, she could not stand on her own and had to be supported by officers. Sobriety tests were not conducted; however, during a search of Rogers’s vehicle, a metal container with alcohol and prescription medication labeled as Hydrocodone was found in her purse. Despite agreeing to give a blood sample, she later refused to leave the car when they arrived at Sango ER. Throughout the arrest process, Rogers referred to officers as her boyfriend, Marcus, and did not recall the accident or giving a blood sample. Consequently, Rogers was charged with driving under the influence, driving with an open container of alcohol, and exercising due care.
