After seeing heavy rain to start the summer season, Minnesota has been hit hard with flood waters. In an effort to help, the Salvation Army is providing relief in Waterville, Cook, and Magnolia.

The Salvation Army’s Dan Furry says the organization is ready to assist but that it’s going to be “a while before it resolves itself.”

“Our focus and our mission is to help people who are in need. At the beginning of a flood, we do that with food, hydration, emotional care. But then, over time, that converts to a clean-up phase, and teams could be there for a significant period of time,” Furry said.

Furry says the teams could be there for a significant period and are preparing to help for as long as residents in the three flooded towns need it.

“We’ll just help. Help the people that need to be helped and do the best we can,” he said.
