    11 WEM track and field athletes named to All-Conference team

    The Waterville-Elysian-Morristown(WEM) track and field team had 11 athletes named to the Gopher Conference 2024 team.

    The school had the second-most athletes named to the all-conference track and field team, being only behind JWP who had eighteen on the team. The Buccaneers finished in the middle of the conference for overall team scores, with the girls team finishing sixth in the conference with a score of 55.5 while the boys team finished fifth in the conference with a score of 59.

    Five WEM girl athletes were named to the all-conference team, with sophomore Addison Condon being on the team in two categories. Condon made the team in the long jump category, scoring a conference high 17'2" in the season.

    Condon was also named to the all-conference team with a relay team consisting of Ella Duenes, Madison Zimbrich, McKenna Schuster and herself. The team had a 4x100 meter relay time of 51.21 seconds.

    Junior Ashlyn Pelant was named to the all-conference team in the shot put category with a distance score of 36'5.75".

    For the WEM boys track and field team, six athletes were named to the Gopher all-conference team.

    Freshman Wyatt Jans was named to the team in the 1600 meter run category with a time of just under five minutes, while junior Gavin Brown was named to the team in the 3200 meter run category with a time of eleven minutes and twelve seconds.

    The rest of the WEM boys all-conference selection came from a 4x400 meter relay consisting of Evan Lange-Wenker, Brody Holicky, Ethan Einertson, and Gavin Atherton. Their race time was 3 minutes and 44 seconds.

    Macy Anderson was named as an honorable mention for the all-conference girls track and field team for her efforts in pole vaulting and Talen Taylor was named as an honorable mention for the all-conference boys team for his efforts in long jumping.

    Tatum Richards and Brody Holicky were both awarded with the sportsmanship award for track and field. The sportsmanship award goes to athletes who exemplify good sportsmanship qualities and are given to a member of each team in the Gopher Conference.

    WEM baseball and softball athletes were also named to their respected all-conference teams as well in the Gopher Conference.

    Sophomore Robynn Schwichten was named to the all-conference softball team, with Alayna Atherton being named an honorable mention. For the baseball all-conference team, Junior Ivan Pratt was named to the third team all-conference while senior Caleb Caron was an honorable mention.

    The sportsmanship recipient for WEM for the softball team was senior Izabela Slechta and the baseball team recipient for the award was senior Luke Michael.
