WAUSEON — A Waterville teen originally charged with attempted murder has been placed on community control here in Fulton County Common Pleas Court on amended charges.

Landen Allred, 19 was placed on community control for five years with conditions on two counts of attempted felonious assault, each a third-degree felony. A prison term of nine to 36 months was reserved in case Allred violates terms of community control.

Conditions include that Allred receive a dual diagnoses assessment and complete the SEARCH program in Bowling Green. He also is prohibited from consuming alcoholic beverages or “any product containing THC” or marijuana, even if he has a marijuana prescription.

Too, he was given credit for 141 days served in jail while his case was pending.

A charge of attempted murder, a first-degree felony, was dismissed as part of the plea negotiations between Allred’s attorney, Joe Urenovitch of Whitehouse, and Fulton County Prosecutor T. Luke Jones’ office. Two counts of felonious assault, each a second-degree felony, also were amended to the above charges (attempted felonious assault).

The indictment against Allred — returned by a Fulton County grand jury in November — stems from an incident on Oct. 26 in Swanton where he allegedly caused harm to another person with a wooden chair.

Prior to his indictment, Allred had entered a not guilty by reason of insanity plea. This came after he waived his right to a preliminary hearing to determine only if there were probable cause to hold him on the allegations.

In January, he was declared competent to stand trial following an assessment from the Court Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Toledo.
