FAIRFIELD, ND ( KXNET ) — A 41-year-old Watford City woman was killed Wednesday when her car collided with a truck near Fairfield.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the woman was heading south on Highway 85 when she apparently lost control of her vehicle, veered into the other lane and collided head-on with a semi-truck going north.

The crash started a fire which quickly consumed both vehicles.

The Watford City woman died at the scene.

The driver of the semi, a 50-year-old Cleburn, Texas man, was seriously injured and flown to an emergency room in Bismarck.

    The crash remains under investigation.
