A Watkins man was arrested for allegedly keeping roosters and using them for cockfighting at a property off Hudson Road.

According to a Facebook post from the Adams County Sheriff's Office (ACSO), they worked with the Adams County Code Enforcement, Adams County Animal Management, and the Bureau of Animal Protection to arrest the man, who was suspected of "fowl play."

Authorities seized 39 birds, including 32 roosters. Some showed injuries that were consistent with cockfighting. ACSO took one man to the Adams Count y Detention Facility on suspicion of animal fighting and aggravating cruelty to animals, according to the post.

The case will be presented in the District Attorney's Office for the 17th Judicial District for the filing of charges.
