Photo story: County celebrates the Fourth
Thousands of people lined the main streets of Watsonville and Aptos Thursday to watch the parades that have become a tradition stretching back decades. The Spirit of Watsonville parade kicked off at noon, two hours after the Worlds Shortest Parade, which takes place in Aptos on Soquel Avenue in Mid-County.

Pet of the Week: Meet Juno!
Juno is one of Our Neighborhood Pet Project’s newest rescue kittens, after she was initially. found in Salinas by a good Samaritan who temporarily took care of her until realizing it was more than she could handle. Juno is currently in excellent hands and being cared for in a Salinas home with other foster kittens awaiting her spay surgery and her furrever home.
Conversation and Coffee with Mayor Marie Blankley
The community is invited to join Mayor Marie Blankley for coffee, donuts, and conversation about the City's efforts to improve our streets and implement a sidewalk repair program that will bring us closer to our goal of a safely walkable and accessible street system. Conversation and Coffee will take place on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 9:30 AM in Council Chambers located at 7351 Rosanna Street. To ensure everyone can participate, we are offering Spanish-language interpretation services for this meeting.
