Nippon Steel plans $1B to upgrade Pennsylvania plant

Victim identified in fatal bicycle versus vehicle crash
The identity of the victim who died in a car versus bicycle accident Thursday night has now been released. Pennsylvania State Police in Corry has identified the bicyclist as Daylon Vaughn Hoffman, of Corry. The crash happened between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 29 on State Route 77 near Summit Road in Concord Township.

One killed, two hurt in shooting in Clairton
CLAIRTON, Pa. (KDKA) - One person is dead, two others are hurt, and a suspect is in custody after shots were fired in Clairton early on Sunday morning. According to Allegheny County Police, just before 4 a.m. dispatch was made aware of a disturbance in the 400 block of State Street and police were sent to the scene. Once they arrived, they found a large amount of people fighting in the street, and multiple police departments were called to assist Clairton Police. Around 4:10 a.m., multiple gunshots were heard in the crowd. One man was shot and attempted to flee the scene, crashing his vehicle on State Street, and then was pronounced dead. Two other men were hurt - one was shot in the arm and the other in the leg. Police took one person into custody. Allegheny County Police detectives are investigating and they're asking anyone with information to call their tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS. He announced his decision on Friday.On his re-election website, Gainey touts that his administration has "secured the city's first-ever affordable housing bond, inject[ed] millions of dollars to address the city's housing affordability crisis; launched a historic re-investment in the City's infrastructure; reopened the police academy, negotiated a police contract; and led a transformation in core service responsiveness that is filling more potholes, plowing streets faster, and issuing more building permits."Gainey says there is still work to do to make Pittsburgh as safe and welcoming as possible.A recent poll showed a hypothetical primary matchup between Mayor Gainey and County Controller Corey O'Connor, with Gainey and O'Connor each polling 37% of Democrats with 25% undecided.
