    Waukesha's Payton Nabak wins TK's Championship Scratch Bowling tourney

    CLINTON—Waukesha native Payton Nabak is surely glad he made a weekend trip down to southern Wisconsin after leaving with $1,000 and a championship belt.

    The 22-year-old bowler took first place in the fourth annual TK’s Championship Scratch Bowling Tournament hosted by Cougar Lanes on Jan. 27-28. Nabak had an outstanding weekend of results after rolling a 266-276-256-214 series on the first day to put his pin total at 1,012 and clinch the No. 1 seed heading into Sunday.

    Nabak maintained his first-place status after the first round of cuts on the second day with a 277-237-236 output for a total of 750. He just kept dominating from there bowling a 279 in the top-16 round before rolling back-to-back 300 games to make it to the championship round, where he beat out Josh Elrod with a 238 and finished with an average of 261.

    The tourney, sponsored by Cougar Lanes and Big Radio, featured 99 total bowlers who bowled over two shifts on Saturday with the top 36 making it to Sunday.

    The pattern used on day one was USBC Blue 2 while the final day featured a Great Wall of China pattern.
