Boys golf: Warriors third at Spartan Invite, Badger Large mini meet

The competition among the top three boys’ golf teams in the Badger Large Conference is heating up.

On Wednesday, May 8, Waunakee finished third at a Badger Large mini meet that took place at Oak Ridge Golf Course, shooting a team score of 294. It was decided on the final holes, with Milton taking first with a 286 and DeForest ending up second with 289.

Pacing the Warriors was Peyton Albers, who shot a 1-over par score of 71 and finished in fourth place. Meanwhile, Brady Piazza and Drew Berres shot 73s to tie for 9th place. KC Nickel had a 75 and AJ Ziegler shot 81.

Back on Monday, May 6, Waunakee placed third at the Spartan Invitational at Blackhawk Country Club, with Middleton topping the field with a 297 and Janesville Craig finishing second with a 304. Berres and Albers tied for the best score for the Warriors with a 78. Nickel shot an 80, as Piazza carded an 81 and Quinn Stein had an 85.
