MAPLE GROVE, Minn. – The Wausau Post 10 Legion baseball team won a pair of games to open play at the three-day Gopher Classic on Friday at Gleason Fields Sports Complex.

Wausau defeated St. Louis Park 8-0 and Maple Grove 7-5 to even its season record at 13-13.

Lucas Hager threw a five-inning complete-game shutout in the opening game for Wausau, allowing just two hits with no walks and one strikeout.

Dylan Dobratz and Luke Smogoleski both had two hits, including a home run, as Wausau finished with 13 hits in all. Tony Iaffaldano, Davis Winter, Ryan Rodemeier and Iain Stahel also both had two hits, with Stahel scoring three runs in the victory.

Against Maple Grove, Wausau scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning keyed by a grand slam by Smogoleski, only to see the home team respond with five runs before Rodemeier was able to get the final out via strikeout to save the win for Jesse Osness. Osness went 6 1/3 innings, striking out nine.

Jackson Albee had two hits and drove in a pair of runs on a first-inning single for Wausau.

Wausau will play Mankato National at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, and wrap up the tournament against Lincoln (Neb.) Carpet Land Post 3 at 9 a.m. and Rock Island (Ill.) Post 200 at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
