Wausau Legion baseball shut out by Mankato at Gopher Classic

MAPLE GROVE, Minn. – Mankato held Wausau to just four hits and shut out the Bulldogs 9-0 on Saturday on the second day of the Gopher Legion Baseball Classic.

Mankato scored single runs in the third and fourth innings, then blew the game open with a seven-run sixth.

Jack Barthels took the pitching loss for Wausau, striking out five in five innings.

Wausau (13-14) will wrap up play at the tournament on Sunday with games against Lincoln (Neb.) Carpet Land at 9 a.m. and Rock Island (Ill.) at 4:30 p.m.
