Historical Society to host Kid’s History Day

WAUSAU – The Marathon County Historical Society will host its annual Kid’s History Day Aug. 23.

Get your sleuth hat on and become junior history detectives looking to solve a history mystery. Attendees can do crafts and activities, as well as outings that will bring the theme to life. Activities will include touring an historic home, museum exhibits with scavenger hunts, visiting downtown locations and more.

Kid’s History Day, to be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., is designed for elementary and middle school students ages 7-13. Programs offer something for every age, splitting the group at some points to provide at least two different age-appropriate activities.

Snacks and supplies will be provided. Children must bring a cold lunch, water bottle, weather appropriate clothes and sturdy shoes. They can be dropped off at the Woodson History Center, 410 McIndoe St., Wausau, starting at 9 a.m. but no later than 9:15 a.m. A lunch break will be held at about noon. The event ends at 3 p.m. and children must be picked up at the Woodson History Center before 3:30 p.m.

To sign up, fill out a registration form and return to the Marathon County Historical Society, 410 McIndoe St. Wausau, WI 54403, with the $10 registration fee. Submit forms and fees no later than Aug. 16 to guarantee a spot, as space is limited to 25 participants.
