WAUSAU – The Wausau Woodchucks set two franchise records in a 9-4 loss to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters in Northwoods League baseball action Tuesday night at Athletic Park.

Edwin Alicea (Nova Southeastern) made another start on the mound and suffered the loss tonight, striking out two in two innings. He was replaced by Garret Brogdon (Simpson University), who went one inning before a weather delay.

The Chucks’ put up four runs, including a hot second inning from back-to-back-to-back singles off the bats of Hayden Christiansen (Xavier), Aidan Corn (Pasco-Hernando State) and Luke Pemberton (Pepperdine). Jake Berkland (Mankato) went 2-for-3, with two singles, one of which was a bunt single that scored a run.

Edian Espinal (Central Florida) had a stolen base to set a new franchise team-record for most steals in a season with Wausau’s 157th of the season. Max Soliz Jr. (Kansas) smacked his seventh homer of the season in the fifth inning to break another franchise team-record, as it was the 57th on the season for the Woodchucks.

The Woodchucks (43-15, 17-7 second half) will wrap up their season series with the Rafters at Witter Field in Wisconsin Rapids on Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. before returning home for a three-game homestand at Athletic Park against Thunder Bay on Thursday and Friday, and Madison on Saturday.

Thursday’s game starts at 6:35 p.m. with The ZOOperstars! providing entertainment.
