Art of Wine to return to CVA
WAUSAU – The Center for the Visual Arts in downtown Wausau will host its annual fundraising event, Art of Wine, on Sept. 14, and tickets are now on sale. This event is a popular fundraiser that supports the programs provided to the community, including the CVA’s free art galleries, school of art for children and adults, scholarship funds, and its gift shop, which supports Wisconsin-based artists.

The bill moved with lightning speed. It was introduced last December, passed the state Senate in January and the Assembly in February, and was signed into law by Gov. Tony Evers in March. 2023 Wisconsin Act 253 allows police and corrections officials to charge some requesters of video and audio recordings for the cost of redaction — that is, blurring out certain information.

What in Wausau these past weeks reads like a mystery novel, minus it’s usual heroes and villains? Legislation has recently passed so that a pivotal green space, Yawkey Park will change dramatically. How did this happen? The Woodson YMCA has initiated plans for The Landing expansion, where there’s to be a Third Street skywalk coming through to the park’s adjacent 1920’s pergola. There will also be the construction of a long row of angled cement parking stalls before the park, on Fourth Street.

Yes, there is a new company in Wausau founded by “Sir” Gary Kong that says it is going to bottle and sell Wausau’s local tap water for profit. The brand is called “Wasa Water.” And the company’s recent press release claimed that the company has a “groundbreaking initiative to send Wasa Water to outer space through the SpaceX rideshare program.” Read the press release here.

NECEDAH, Wis. (AP) — A house fire in Wisconsin killed six family members, authorities said Monday, adding that early indications are that the blaze was accidental.
