WAUSAU – The Friends of Wausau Historic Landmarks will continue its season of architecture and history tours in late August with a walk through the Longfellow neighborhood.

The tour will begin at the corner of Henrietta and Frenzel streets at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 29.

It will highlight the history and culture of the area, including Longfellow School, St. Mary’s Oratory, Wausau Conservatory of Music and some beautiful homes. Did you know there was a creamery and a soft drink stand in the neighborhood?

The tour will include stepping inside some of these neighborhood treasures for a closer look at their beauty and history.

Remember to dress for the weather and wear good walking shoes as there will be some uneven surfaces, and possibly stairs.

As always, the tour is free and open to all ages. Free will donations are appreciated.

Follow the group at wausauhistoriclandmarks.org or on the Facebook page of Friends of Wausau Historic Landmarks.
