Weston is seeking a new trustee after Jasper Hartinger resigned this month, according to a notice from village officials.

Administrator Jami Gebert, in an email, said Hartinger on Aug. 20 resigned for personal reasons. Gebert did not elaborate, and Hartinger could not be reached Friday for comment.

Letters of interest an resumes are being accepted until noon on Friday, Sept. 20. All candidates will appear for an interview during open session of a meeting with the Village Board. Ultimately, the board will appoint one candidate to fill the seat until the April 2026 spring election.

Any village resident age 18 or older who is a legal U.S. resident is welcome to submit application materials for consideration. Applicants should explain their interest, qualifications, prior municipal or community service and priorities if appointed.

Submit application materials by mail to Village Administrator Jami Gebert, 4747 Camp Phillips Road, Weston, Wis. 54476 or by email to [email protected]. Candidates will be notified by email when applications are verified.

Trustees meet the third Monday of each month and are also expected to serve on between one and three committees that typically meet monthly. Special meetings are scheduled as needed, and a Board of Review also meets at least once a year. Trustees earn annual salaries of $7,200 per year, split into monthly payments.

    Appointment Process

The Village Board will conduct interviews of interested candidates at a meeting that has not yet been scheduled. Here is how the appointment works:

    • The appointment process will be held in open session.
    • Candidates will be interviewed by the Village Board.
    • Each individual who submitted an application will be provided up to three minutes to give a verbal introduction/presentation to the Village Board (presentation is optional). Presentation order will be determined by a random drawing of names at the meeting.
    • The Village Board members will take turns asking a question of the interested persons.
    • The Village Board will then vote upon the appointment in open session.
