UPDATE: Woman in Vilas Co. ATV crash dies of her injuries, police say

A woman who was involved in an ATV crash in Vilas County has died, two days after she was discovered thrown from her vehicle, police say.

The crash was reported at about 3:40 p.m. Saturday on Monheim Road in Conover. The woman was unconscious when first responders arrived on the scene.

The victim was transported to Aspirus Eagle River Hospital before being flown to Wausau. Police say she died just before 8 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2.

The victim’s name has not yet been released. The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

According to DNR data 24 people have been killed this year in ATV or UTV crashes. Two ATV deaths occurred over the Labor Day holiday weekend.
