Wausau West volleyball drops conference opener to Stevens Point

WAUSAU – The Wausau West volleyball team opened its Wisconsin Valley Conference season with a 3-0 loss to Stevens Point on Thursday at West High School.

Stevens Point won 25-16, 25-19, 25-22.

Senior Grace Huggenvik was a force at the net earning seven kills and four blocks for the Warriors.

Sophomore Mercy Kelly dominated in the offensive attack with eight kills, senior Claire Calmes led the Warriors defense with 14 digs, while junior Addy Vaughn chipped in 13 digs and five service aces for West.

The Warriors head to Merrill next Thursday for another WVC match.
