WAUSAU – Emerging Leaders is offering school grants up to $500 to applicants in Marathon County school districts.

Teachers and school officials can apply, as well as students and coaches, and 501c3 organizations. The grant is open to applicants serving seventh through 12th grade students.

The grant funds must be used for a classroom, club, team or a group of students associated with the school district.

For more information and to apply for a grant, go to tinyurl.com/ycypw5rj or unitedwaymc.org and visit the Emerging Leaders landing page. Applications will be accepted through Oct. 18. Grants will be awarded in the beginning of November, and money will be distributed by Dec. 31.

Last year, Emerging Leaders granted John Muir Middle School student Braysen Hesse a grant to start a raised garden at the school to grow vegetables for the cafeteria, as well as students to take home.
