    Newman Catholic volleyball sweeps Edgar for first Marawood South win

    WAUSAU – The Newman Catholic volleyball team picked up its first win of the Marawood Conference South Division season, sweeping Edgar 3-0 on Tuesday at home.

    The Cardinals won 25-23, 25-14, 25-19, to improve to 1-2 in Marawood South duals. Edgar falls to 2-1.

    Camille Sobolewski had 13 kills, Annika Svennes had four of the Cardinals’ 10 service aces, Madison Keene had 10 digs, and Lily Shields had 14 assists, four kills and eight digs in the win for Newman.

    The Cardinals will play at the Tomahawk Quad on Thursday beginning at 4 p.m. Abbotsford, Antigo, Marathon and Prentice will also be taking part in the event.
