    Wisconsin Rapids sweeps D.C. Everest girls tennis

    WESTON – Wisconsin Rapids moved into a tie for first place in the Wisconsin Valley Conference girls tennis standings with a 7-0 sweep of D.C. Everest on Tuesday at D.C. Everest High School.

    The Raiders won each match in straight sets to improve to 4-1 in the WVC and into a tie with Stevens Point for the points lead with 56. Wausau West has 54 and Marshfield 52 as the conference regular season closes Thursday.

    D.C. Everest’s No. 2 doubles team of Kali Rutta and Izabel Lezcano had the tightest match, falling 7-5, 7-5, to Annabelle Ross and Sierra Dillingham.

    D.C. Everest will finish its Wisconsin Valley Conference regular season at home against Wausau East on Thursday. The Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament will be held Oct. 3 at Wausau East.
