The Marathon County Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash. Please use caution when traveling in the area, as traffic is detoured to alternate routes.

A portion of Hwy. 153 in Marathon County is closed Friday after a crash involving a semi and a passenger vehicle, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

The crash was reported just before 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Hwy. E in the town of Eau Pleine. Witnesses say the passenger vehicle, a four-door sedan, caught fire after the crash. There’s no word yet on injuries.

A Life Link helicopter was placed on standby but did not ultimately respond to the scene.

According to emergency scanner traffic, the semi came to rest in the southbound ditch at the intersection. All lanes are blocked as of 12:20 p.m. Friday.

This is a developing story that will be updated.
