    Wausau Pilot & Review

Two people were injured in a crash Tuesday west of Wausau, while a portion of Hwy. 107 was shut down for nearly five hours as crews cleared the scene.

The crash involved a truck and a van. The extent of the injuries to two people inside the van is not immediately clear, though first responders called for a medical helicopter after arriving at the crash scene.

The crash was reported at about 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of County Hwy. L in the town of Hamburg. Crews from Athens and Edgar were among the first to respond, according to emergency scanner traffic.

Northbound and southbound traffic was rerouted until about 10:20 p.m., when deputies reopened the road.

As of Wednesday morning, no formal details have been released by the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department. This is a developing story that will be updated.

The Pilot often relies on reports from police officials in control of a crime, fire or crash scene during a breaking news event. While these initial reports are valuable to readers, they also can be incomplete and even inaccurate. We let readers know what we can and can’t confirm, as well as when and how we received our information. Then we work to aggressively gather a wider range of perspectives and to verify the information through public records, interviews, photos and videos, all of which are verified before publishing.
