    Wisconsin Rapids shuts out D.C. Everest boys soccer

    WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids pulled in front of D.C. Everest in the Wisconsin Valley Conference boys soccer standings with a 2-0 victory Thursday night at South Wood County Field at Lincoln High School.

    Wisconsin Rapids is now 9-5-2 overall and 5-1-1 in the WVC, one point ahead of D.C. Everest (9-6 overall) and Wausau West, which are both 5-2 in conference play with two games remaining.

    Brandon Pitillo scored just 5:10 into the game and Landyn Freeman added another goal with 44 seconds to go before halftime to give Wisconsin Rapids all it needed.

    D.C. Everest outshot Wisconsin Rapids 16-9, but Raiders goalie Hayden Piesik saved seven shots to earn the shutout victory.

    Aissen Witter had four saves in goal for D.C. Everest.

    D.C. Everest will wrap up its regular season with road games at Marshfield on Tuesday and at Peoples State Bank Stadium in Wausau against Wausau West on Thursday, Oct. 17.
