One killed in motorcycle crash on Ohio 124 in Pike County

PIKETON — The Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a fatal motorcycle crash at 10:24 a.m. Wednesday on Ohio 124 in Pike County.

Caelem M. Knauff, 24, of Waverly, was traveling eastbound on Ohio 124 near milepost 14 on a 2023 Kawasaki KLR650 motorcycle. After topping a slight hillcrest there was a hard braking from the motorcycle and it laid down on its side. Both the driver and motorcycle slid off the right side of the road striking a guardrail, according to a news release.

Knauff was wearing a protective helmet at the time of the crash. No other vehicle was involved.

The following agencies assisted in the investigation: Benton Township Fire Department, Portsmouth Ambulance and the Pike County Coroner's Office.
