Williamsburg native assumes command of Carrier Strike Group 12

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A change of command ceremony for Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 12 was recently held at Naval Station Norfolk.

Rear Adm. Erik J. Eslich was relieved by Rear Adm. Thomas P. Moninger who assumed duty as commander of CSG 12.

“I am thrilled to work alongside the Sailors of Carrier Strike Group 12,” said Moninger. “I am joining an amazing team, and look forward to the opportunities and challenges to come.”

Moninger is a native of Williamsburg, Virginia and a 1994 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy. He previously served as commander of the USS Arleigh Burke and the USS Mahan.
