PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Verizon customers on the Eastern Shore may experience trouble dialing into 9-1-1 on Sunday, police said.

An intermittent issue with Verizon network equipment is causing some 9-1-1 callers on the Eastern Shore of Virginia to not be able to dial in to 9-1-1 using a cellular or landline phone during brief, intermittent periods of time.

If unable to reach 911, callers can call the dispatch center directly at 757-387-9508.
