    Free safety course in Newport News for motorcyclists

    PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles announced that the free Circuit RiderCourse for motorcyclists is being offered in Newport News.

    The course is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 24 and Sunday, Aug. 25. You must register to secure your spot here.

    The Circuit RiderCourse offers a full day of training with handpicked instructors. Riders can experience speeds up to 45-65 mph, providing real-world riding training in a safe environment. They’ll practice maximum braking at 30 mph and 50 mph.

    • Location: Todd Stadium, 12465 Warwick Blvd., Newport News
    • Dates: Saturday, August 24, 2024, or Sunday, August 25, 2024
    • Duration: One-day intensive course, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Cost: It’s free! This course is paid for by the Virginia Rider Training Program
