    Some North Carolina counties’ 911 line impacted in phone outage

    Update: Phone service to the Communications Center has been fully restored. 911 calls will be answered by Currituck County as normal.

    CURRITUCK COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — A phone outage in North Carolina is impacting communications in Currituck County and Perquiman County including calls to 911, reports state.

    For Currituck County : Citizens with an emergency can call the communications cell phone at 252-435-9381. Dare County Communications is providing assistance. 911 calls are being routed to Dare County at this time and will be answered to coordinate emergency response as needed.

    For Perquimans County: When calling Perquimans-Gates 911 your call may be answered by our mutual aid partners at Wilson 911. They will gather your info and relay to us via radio so local responders can be dispatched.

    Over the last several months, there have been multiple reports of various providers experiencing outages including AT&T and Verizon.

    There’s no additional information regarding how long this will be in effect or the cause.
