Man charged in Amber Alert, deadly multi-state pursuit expected to appear in court

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, M.D. (WAVY) — The Virginia Beach man facing charges in connection to a multi-state pursuit, parental abduction and stabbing case is expected to appear in court in Maryland on Monday.

36-year-old Dana Plummer is expected to appear in court in Maryland at 10 a.m. following his release from the hospital . Plummer was taken into Maryland Department of Corrections’ custody after his three children were reportedly abducted out of Virginia Beach, prompting an Amber Alert.

Virginia State Police were alerted of a vehicle that matched the information in the Amber Alert and initiated a pursuit. Law enforcement continued the pursuit from Virginia to Maryland where the suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed.

One of the three children in the car, a 16-month-old, was killed, and the other two children were seriously hurt.

Plummer was taken to the hospital for his injuries, but has since been taken into custody while awaiting his appearance. His hearing is expected to be in connection to fugitive charges from Virginia.

He is also being charged in connection to a stabbing incident that occurred the night prior to his arrest.

One adult and one child have serious injuries after being stabbed in the 900 block of Jay Are Court, near Virginia Wesleyan University Wednesday night. Virginia Beach Police responded around 8:48 p.m. and discovered two stabbing victims, a 37-year-old woman and 12-year-old girl, mother and daughter. Virginia Beach Police confirmed Plummer is the 12-year-old’s step parent.

Due to the multi-state crime allegations, Maryland State Police is handling the crash investigation, and Virginia State Police is leading the investigation into the police pursuit.
