    Edenton man sentenced for involvement in February shooting

    EDENTON, N.C. (WAVY) — Ky’heem Ka’vun Stanley of Edenton was sentenced to more than three years in prison Monday for a February shooting.

    Chowan Superior Court Judge Marvin K. Blount judge sentenced Stanley, 28, to 44 months (3 years, 8 months) to 65 months (5 years, 5 months) in prison after Stanley pleaded guilty during a hearing Monday to charges of attempted first-degree murder, per online court records.

    Charges of carrying a concealed gun, discharging a firearm in town limits and injury to real property were dismissed without leave by the District Attorney per a plea agreement.

    Just after 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, police received several real-time gunfire alerts from the Acoustic Threat Detection (ATD) sensor. Officers responded to 711 North Broad Street, Red Apple, to find a gunshot victim who was rushed to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, N.C.

    An investigation led police to arrest Stanley on one count of attempted first-degree murder, one count of assault with deadly weapon with intent to kill–inflicting serious injury, one count of carrying a concealed weapon, discharging a firearm in town limits and injury to real property.
