Crews arrived and found smoke coming from the home. Firefighters entered the structure and found the fire had entered into the attic of the home. Chesapeake firefighters and auto-aid firefighters from Portsmouth quickly extinguished the fire.

One occupant was injured attempting to put out the fire and was transported to a local hospital. No other injuries were reported. The cause appears to be from outdoor cooking, officials said.
