VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Labor Day weekend marks the last summer push for Oceanfront businesses.

As businesses reflect on the busy summer months, they say the season coming to a close is not stopping the show.

“We’re looking forward to a really positive Labor Day weekend. We had a terrific Fourth of July. And the one thing that we can’t guarantee, but were really happy about is the weather, this weekend. The potential to have a phenomenal weekend and close the year is great, so were looking forward to it,” said D. Nachnani, President of the Atlantic Avenue Association.

Entrepreneurs say depending on the summer weather, some days throughout the summer season saw business boom, and some were slower.

Atlantic Avenue Association President Deepak Nachnani said his organization is working with the city of Virginia Beach to keep patrons visiting the Oceanfront and to hopefully avoid what could be a business slowdown.

He said the city is working on affordable incentives to keep the locals coming while the tourists are going.

“The city of Virginia Beach is working on a parking program so we have really inexpensive parking if you have a Virginia ID,” Nachnani said. “It’s important to know that in our parking lots, so make sure you bring your ID ’cause locals take back the beach after this weekend.”

There are two big events coming to the Oceanfront in the next couple of months, the Neptune Festival and Something in The Water . The Atlantic Avenue Association expects business to boom during those weekends.
